Hi, we are Scholar Driving School and provide driver training throughout Blackwood and surrounding areas. We specialise in teaching you how to drive safely and help you to pass your driving test as quickly as possible.
As of June 2018, learner drivers are allowed on motorways. However, this is only with a qualified driving instructor and in a vehicle fitted with dual controls. The M4 is close by and motorway driving can be included into your lessons.
You may have passed your test some time ago but lost a bit of confidence. Why not have some refresher driving lessons in Blackwood and surrounding areas with Scholar Driving School and get your confidence back again.
We know that taking driving lessons in Blackwood can be expensive and the costs can easily add up.
That’s why we try to keep our prices competitive with everyone else in the area. We recommend booking 2 hour lessons as we find these more beneficial to you.

Scott & Holly – Scholar Driving School
Here’s just some of our testimonials from very happy clients. Just like some of our other clients, these guys passed their driving test first time. You can read many more of our testimonials on our Facebook page by clicking here.
I would just like to say thank you to Scott and Scholar Driving School for helping me pass my test first time with zero driver faults. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is looking to book driving lessons. I couldn’t be more grateful for all the help and support that he has given me throughout my lessons.
Having gone through a lot personally in the last 9 months I was worried about learning to drive. But Holly was relaxed, made it enjoyable and made me feel more than comfortable even when having a bad day driving. I passed both my theory and practical first time and don’t think I could have done it with anyone else.

Thank you for looking through our website and we hope that there’s enough information to help you to decide to let us teach you how to drive in and around the Blackwood area and let us help you to pass your driving test. The quality and standard of driving instructors in Blackwood and indeed across the country has certainly gone up over the years and because of this, we love our job more and more each day. But did you know that driving instructors have to abide by certain rules and regulations from a governing body. They are called the DVSA and they lay down certain guidelines that we have to abide to. Some of these guidelines can be found here, these are called The Code of Conduct. For driving instructors, signing the code of conduct is not compulsory but those who have signed the code are basically guaranteeing the public that we abide the rules set out to teach you. If you are ever dissatisfied about the services you receive from a driving instructor, you can always contact the DVSA and they will then look into your case for you and try to rectify any problems you’ve encountered.
Just to help you to choose from a list of driving schools in Blackwood, you can also use the same DVSA website to find and locate a driving school. This service is called Find an Instructor and you can use this here. So, although the majority of driving instructors are self-employed, we still have to abide by a set of rules which are laid down by the authorities. So, I’m assuming that you know a little about what steps to take to get a full driving licence? Firstly, you must pass a theory and hazard perception test, and secondly, you must pass the practical driving test. You can only apply to take a practical driving test once you passed the theory and hazard perception test. Your driving test will last approximately 40 minutes. You’ll also get asked two Show Me Tell Me questions on your practical driving test. You can see a list of these here. You need to revise and know these questions for your practical driving test.
